This year, we participate in Quality Education Fund Thematic Networks (QTN) Project titled ‘Encouraging self-directed learning during KS1 through diversified strategies in English learning. With collaboration with Shak Chung Shan Memorial Catholic Primary School, we aim to redevelop our KS1 programme to develop students’ language skills. Students are provided with various opportunities to interact with our NET through various games and activities in class. Their comprehension skills and abilities have improved significantly, which is beneficial for their overall language development and academic performance.
P4-6 pupils also get exposure to authentic English by attending speaking lessons with the NET. Pupils always find time to practice speaking English with native speakers inside the classroom and outside in the hallways and playground.
With sponsor from Yuk Ching Charity Trust, the Sunnyside Up Programme aims to boost pupils’ confidence and interests in learning English. Pupils with potential in English are selected for the programme. The lessons are designed and taught by qualified and experienced teachers. Awards were presented to the best students and most improved students.
P5-6 students are divided into ability groups to address learner diversity. HKAT skills are taught in ability groups.
